Legal Framework

Political Constitution of the Plurinational Republic of Bolivia General Regulations on Degrees and Qualifications

Institutional actors and operational instances

Bolivian University System, Vice-Ministry of Higher Education and Vocational Training, Professional Degrees Unit

Documentation required in order to initiate the recognition process

1. Letter addressed to the Minister of Education, requesting the granting of the Professional Degree, signed by the interested party. In the case of a proxy, a simple photocopy of the legal document must be attached.

2. Diploma or Professional Degree in original and photocopy, both duly legalized by the following authorities:

 The university authorities of the country where the student studied.

 The Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the country of origin where the student studied.

 The Bolivian Consulate accredited in the country of origin where the student studied.

 The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Plurinational State of Bolivia.

3. The certificate of each of the subjects taken and passed: in original or photocopy, duly legalized by the following authorities:

 The university authorities of the country where the student carried out his/her studies.

The Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the country of origin where the student studied.

The Bolivian Consulate accredited in the country of origin where the student studied.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Plurinational State of Bolivia.

4. The Analytical Plans and Programs by subjects; in original or photocopy duly legalized by the following authorities:

The university authorities of the country where the student carried out his/her studies.

The Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the country of origin where the student studied.

The Bolivian Consulate accredited in the country of origin where the student studied.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Plurinational State of Bolivia.

5. The documents that accredit the modality of graduation, original or photocopy legalized by the university authorities of the country where the student carried out his/her studies: Thesis Defense, Degree Examination, Monograph or other. When the Plans and Programs or the Certification of Subjects establish the graduation modality, it will not be necessary to present the Certificate of Graduation Modality issued by the competent authority.

6. Simple photocopy of the Identity Card of the person requesting the Professional Degree.

7. In case there are documents in a language other than Spanish, each one of them must be submitted with an official translation made by a duly accredited expert in the language to be translated, by court order.
