CRES +5

The III Regional Conference on Higher Education (CRES) held in Cordoba, Argentina, in June 2018 approved a Declaration and established an ambitious Work Plan for the period 2018-2028. In addition, it was agreed that a follow-up conference would be held five years later, known as CRES+5, which will be held March 13-15, 2024 in Brasilia, Brazil.

At the First Preparatory Meeting for CRES+5 that was held in March 2023 in Córdoba (Argentina), apart from the 7 thematic axes around which CRES 2018 revolved, new axes were defined and added to coordinate and guide the regional debates for the next five years. In turn, for each thematic axis, the constitution of a Working Group was approved, made up of specialists, which should coordinate collective efforts around three main objectives:

-To take stock of achievements and pending challenges, based on the contributions of networks, organizations and institutions of higher education;

-To promote a regional consensus on the priorities for the development of higher education in the region in the next five years;

-To draft a Base Document on the corresponding axis that will contribute to the debates during CRES+5 and to a final Declaration.

Axis 8: The impact of COVID in higher Education

Axis 9: Inclusion, diversity and the role of women in higher education

Axis 10: Financing and governance in Higher Education

Axis 11: Autonomy of higher education institutions

Public Consultations

In preparation for CRES+5, which will take place from March 13 to 15, 2024, in Brasilia (Brazil), all stakeholders involved in Higher Education are invited to participate in the virtual Public Consultations coordinated by the Working Groups of each Thematic Axis.

These virtual meetings are aimed at discussing and gathering information on the Thematic Axes, enriching the debate and contributions for the consensual construction of CRES+5, broadening its representativeness and relevance for all higher education stakeholders in the region.

Methodology and Agenda

The Public Consultations will be held from September 2023 to January 2024, around the twelve CRES+5 Thematic Axes. The consultations will be carried out via the Zoom platform, and require prior registration through the links listed below. Once the registration is done, you will receive the link and access code to the Public Consultation in the email used to register.  

Each Public Consultation will count on the participation of the specialists that make up the respective Working Groups, who will manage the collection of information and the production of the base documents corresponding to their Thematic Axis. The Consultations will be open to all those who wish to share their experiences and knowledge to nourish the regional debate and the collective construction of CRES+5.
