  • UNESCO IESALC and UNESCO ICHEI announced a partnership to create the resources to develop training and applied research for relevant higher education

UNESCO IESALC announced a new partnership with the International Centre for Higher Education Innovation under the auspices of UNESCO-ICHEI, located in Shenzhen, China, to work on joint policy research on higher education digital transformation in the Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) region.

UNESCO IESALC Director Francesc Pedró said “Despite the fact that technology has changed the pedagogical method dramatically before the pandemic, especially over the past 5 years in LAC, we should remind ourselves that we need a multisectoral approach for digital transformation to foster future partnerships”.

UNESCO ICHEI Director LI Ming said “Undoubtedly digital transformation has become a vital issue for the future development of higher education”.

Launched at the World Higher Education Conference in Barcelona, Spain, on 20 May 2022, the project will focus on how to transform the current higher education digital landscape in the LAC region. Specifically, through casting trends in the higher education development and offering highly contextualized policy proposals, this research will enhance the capacity of national policymakers and institutional leaders to improve and strengthen the provision of quality higher education.

This research will create the resources to develop training and applied research for relevant higher education stakeholders in the future.
