With the 42nd General Conference of UNESCO (Paris, 7 – 22 November 2023), the terms of office of five (5) members of the Governing Board of UNESCO IESALC will expire. Two (2) of these vacancies shall be filled by express designation by the Director-General of UNESCO. In order for such designation to take place, in full compliance with the articles of the Statutes of UNESCO IESALC, the Institute requests the Councils of Rectors of the countries of Latin America and the Caribbean, or their equivalents, to nominate candidates whose academic and professional merits allow their nominations to be submitted for consideration by the Director-General of UNESCO, who will be responsible for the election and appointment of the new Advisory Members.

In accordance with the provisions of article 4.2 of the normative instrument in reference, UNESCO IESALC opens the period for the reception of nominations until October 1st, 2023 (17:00 hs Caracas Time). All nominations must be made by Councils of Rectors or legally constituted equivalents in the Latin American and Caribbean region, and the candidates subject to nomination must be personalities of recognized academic solvency and prestige. The nomination must be motivated and must be accompanied by the curriculum vitae of the nominee.

In accordance with UNESCO’s global policies and regulatory framework, the institution promotes gender equality and geographic diversity, commitments that extend to the composition of its staff and governing bodies, including the UNESCO IESALC Governing Board.

Nominations should be sent via e-mail to José Antonio Quinteiro / ja.quintero@unesco.org.
