Policy forum

The Policy Forum

The Policy Forum is an annual open event where policymakers, institutional leaders and other stakeholders with a role or an interest in higher education policy internationally discuss key topics and common challenges. Policy Forum events are organized face-to-face and broadcasted online.

Through the exchange of ideas, experiences and practices, the Policy Forum promotes the dissemination of innovative solutions in higher education, fosters international dialogue in the field, enhances capacities for higher education leadership and strengthens cross-cultural understanding while opening new avenues for international collaboration.

1st edition of the Policy Forum, 15 March 2024

The first edition of the Policy Forum was hybrid. It took place as a parallel event of the CRES+5 conference in Brasilia, at the International Convention Center of Brazil (CICB). All panel discussions were organized on-site.

The Policy Forum comprised 2 panel discussions, each focusing on a crucial topic for higher education internationally:

1) Improving quality in higher education.

2) Innovative approaches to higher education funding.

Each panel discussion considered how policy can strengthen higher education impact on sustainability as a transversal topic.

Each panel comprised 4 high-level policymakers in higher education systems in the Latin America and Caribbean region acting as panelists, with interventions and questions from key contributors representing different stakeholders of higher education systems (e.g., higher education institutions, teachers and students association, quality assurance agencies, industry partners).
