Intercultural and indigenous higher education institutions in Latin America

The Representation for Education in Latin America and the Caribbean and the UNESCO International Institute for Higher Education in Latin America and the Caribbean (IESALC) are organizing this webinar based on the findings of the publication “Intercultural and indigenous higher education institutions in Latin America”.

The event aims to promote dialogue among actors around the regional panorama of the trajectories, curricular proposals, forms of administration and importance of indigenous knowledge revealed by these higher education institutions, in addition to sharing their experiences of good practices.

This publication delves into the relationship between indigenous peoples and their right to inclusive education, providing a regional overview of the IESIIs that shows their institutional diversity and the role they have played in the processes of claiming educational models based on intercultural thinking.

The event aims to promote dialogue among actors around the regional panorama of the trajectories, curricular proposals, forms of administration and importance of indigenous knowledge revealed by these higher education institutions, in addition to sharing their experiences of good practices.

The seminar provides an opportunity to collaborate in policy development and stimulate regional dialogue to take the necessary measures for the use, preservation, revitalization and promotion of indigenous languages in higher education.
