UNESCO is convening a 30th-anniversary celebration of the UNITWIN/UNESCO Chairs Programme at its headquarters in Paris from 3-4 November 2022. This anniversary conference will celebrate the accomplishments over the last three decades and advance authentic interdisciplinary dialogues and the cross-sectoral mobilization needed to confront complex challenges on the horizon. Dedicated to the theme of “Transforming knowledge for just and sustainable futures”, the two-day event is grounded in the spirit of scientific, moral, intellectual, and academic solidarity.
The conference is also an opportunity for networking to strengthen the collaboration among members and with the UNESCO sector programs. It will include special sessions based around thematic clusters, allowing multiple opportunities for Chairs, Networks, UNESCO specialists, and other participants to exchange and initiate new collaborations.
This conference is being organized with the support of the French national commission for UNESCO and is aimed at current members of the UNITWIN/UNESCO Chairs Programme and institutional representatives from participating higher education institutions, as well as representatives of Category II Centres, Permanent Delegations and National Commissions.
On November 3, Francesc Pedro, UNESCO IESALC director, will lead the Meeting of UNESCO Chairs and Networks in Latin America and the Caribbean | room VII | 13:00-14:15h
On November 4, UNESCO IESALC director will moderate the parallel workshop Futures of Higher Education | 11:00-12:30h Room IV – (English/French interpretation). On the same day Emma Sabzalieva, UNESCO IESALC Head of Research and Foresight, will lead the Meeting of UNESCO Chairs and Networks working on higher education policy | Room 2.073 | 13:00-14:15h
