In the last three years, the ESS Editorial Team has been led by Prof. Norberto Fernández Lamarra, as General Editor, with the support of Professors Marisa Álvarez, Pablo García and Cristian Perez-Centeno, in the role of Associate Editors, all of them from the Universidad Nacional Tres de Febrero of Argentina. The ESS Editorial Team has the technical support of Débora Ramos, from UNESCO IESALC, as Executive Editor, who is responsible for the reception, review and production circuit throughout the editing process, in addition to the supervision of the dissemination phase of each edited issue. An Institutional Technical Editorial Board of UNESCO IESALC accompanies the Executive Editor in these processes.

The current term of this team will come to an end in December 2023, so UNESCO IESALC has decided to open this call to fill the resulting vacancies and, at the same time, to renew and expand the Editorial Board of the Journal, which acts as the Scientific Committee of this academic dissemination body.

General Editor

Being part of the editorial team of a journal is a commitment: you will have to invest time and effort to serve your professional community. As an Editor of ESS, you can make a real impact in the field of higher education research and provide a valuable service to your colleagues with which you will be recognized internationally.

As General Editor you will be ultimately responsible for its content and editorial processes. With the support of a wider team of associate editors, you will evaluate submissions, make decisions and manage the peer review process, as well as promote the journal and represent it at conferences and other events. Together with the UNESCO IESALC Editorial Team, you will determine the strategic direction of ESS, defining its scope, recommending new team members and requesting content to ensure the growth and development of the journal.

The required profile is that of a researcher in higher education with a consolidated career in a university or research center over a minimum of fifteen years with a respectable record of internationally indexed publications. Fluency in Spanish and English is a prerequisite, and fluency in Portuguese and French and in a language of an indigenous people is recommended; previous experience in another editorial role is highly desirable and may be required prior to assuming the responsibilities of an editor.

This position is not remunerated.

Associate Editors

In view of the number of article submissions received and the wide range of subjects covered, the Journal’s management is assisted by three associate editors. The required profile is that of a researcher in higher education with a minimum of ten years of experience in a university or research center with at least five internationally indexed publications. Fluency in Spanish and English is a prerequisite, and fluency in Portuguese and French and in a language of an indigenous people would be an asset, as would previous experience in another academic journal.

These positions are not remunerated.

Editorial Advisory Board

The ten members of the Editorial Advisory Board support the ESS management and Associate Editors by reviewing submissions, promoting the Journal, advising on the strategy and development of the Journal and, in general, supporting it whenever possible.

The required profile is that of a researcher in higher education with a minimum of five years of experience in a university or research center with at least two internationally indexed publications. Fluency in Spanish and English is a prerequisite, fluency in Portuguese and French is recommended, and fluency in an indigenous language would be an asset.

These positions are not remunerated.
