The National System for the Accreditation of Higher Education (SINAES) invites national and international experts from different disciplines, with extensive teaching experience in higher education (more than 10 years), to register in its Register of Experts; that is, a database of high-level academics from different areas of knowledge, which aims to evaluate careers and programs in higher education in Costa Rica.

SINAES receives accreditation applications from different programs and therefore hires experts to participate as evaluators for external evaluation processes; as disciplinary reviewers of curriculum change applications and as reviewers of progress reports on the fulfillment of improvement commitments, in the follow-up stage of accredited programs or careers.

The main requirements for the hiring of peers are:

  • University teaching experience of more than 10 years;
  • Professional career, more than 10 years, for example: the professional studied medicine, so, in addition to his teaching experience, he has achieved professional experience as a doctor in hospitals or other health centers;
  • Minimum master’s degree and desirable doctorate.

The Register of Experts is based on the evaluation criteria and quality standards established in the SINAES Accreditation Manual.

Read some important indications for registration.

Register here.

SINAES is the national accreditation body for degree programs and careers in Costa Rica and is the institution to which the Costa Rican government has granted the power to publicly attest to the quality of institutions, careers and higher education programs that voluntarily submit to the evaluation process and demonstrate compliance with the established quality criteria.
